  • Negotiation and Inter-personal skills:

         You need to be able to work with your customers to build a

            solid business relationship. A personal relationship with your

            shipper can help make the difference in making your operation

            successful. It can sometimes be much easier to negotiate prices

            from your shipper when your on a first name basis.

 

  • Customer and Carrier lists:

            Having a client and carrier list ready when you start out as a Broker

            Agent helps insure a smooth transition into your new job. Your clients

            are your number one asset. Good relationships with both clients and

            carriers are extremely important. If your clients and carriers feel like

            they know you and can trust you, then your career will be on it's way.

 

 

 

 

  • The tools of the trade:

       In this day and age nothing can be accomplished without

           a computer. From searching for customers to posting your

           loads, it's all accomplished with the internet and computers.

           A few of the must have things to make your office complete

           then will always start with a computer. An internet connection

           is equally important. You'll need a printer to print out paperwork

           and a fax machine to send paperwork to both your carriers and

  • Commitment: 

            Commitment is one of the most important ingredients for making a successful Broker Agent.

            You'll have ups and downs as you do in any business but if you stay committed to

            to being successful and use that drive to win new customers and overcome obstacles

            along the way then your well on your way to where you want to be.

  • Carrier Pay:

           As a broker, one of your most important assets is your carrier base. 

           Your Carrier base must be taken care of to ensure carrier retention. 

           We offer 20 day pay without any charge or you can offer same day pay

           for a 3% quick pay charge (Ask for a copy of our Compunet Credit Report).

           We're proud to be listed in Compunet's Gold Book of Transportation Brokers  

 

  • Commissions:

          PTI offers their brokers a 60/40 split on all loads with 60% going to the agent.

            You won't be reading the fine print of the contract for schemes and procedures

            designed to pay you less than you've earned. You'll receive the full 60% of the

            proceeds from the load.

 

 

 

 

 

 

                                   

 

  • New Customers:

         It's always exciting to get a new customer. PTI offers fast credits checks

           on new customers so we can get them in the system fast and you can start

           your relationship with them as quickly as possible. We also strive to add

           all your new carriers as quickly as possible to avoid delay in the exchange

           of paperwork.

 

 

  • The tools you need to succeed:

          As we've said before, (and it bears repeating) we're only as successful as you are. We strive to

            give our agents the tools they need to be successful. As a PTI agent you'll have access to our

            online dispatch software that you can access from any internet connected computer. You'll get

            access to online posting boards where you can post your loads and find trucks to carry them.

 

 

  • Promotional Materials:

         PTI also offers promotional materials to their agents on request. It's important to get out there and

           be recognized by your potential customers and PTI understands that. We'll work with you on

           obtaining and in many instances split the cost of promotional materials you need.
